Duncan • Wisniewski Architecture (DWA), established in 1985, is a small local firm in Winooski, Vermont, known for its commitment to the realization of community architecture and sustainable solutions. Led by Principals Taryn Barrett and Sam Beall, the studio is devoted to personalized attention to each client and project, ranging from small-scale renovations to large-scale multi-family housing (affordable, seniors, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, homeless), trauma informed space, office environments, local retail, libraries, health/dental/veterinary clinics, early childhood education, and entire neighborhood planning. Collaborating with clients and emphasizing community engagement, DWA continues to shape the local cityscape with thoughtful and impactful low carbon design. We have experience working on historic sites around the state including brick and masonry restoration, slate roofs, additions and expansion sensitive to historic massing, restoration and rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, historic tax credits, Secretary of Interior’s Standards, building code, accessibility, and balancing preservation with sustainability.
