Town Hall Theater, Middlebury
The Town Hall Theater was constructed in 1884 and served as the community’s first town hall. Since then it has housed an opera house, restaurant, car dealership, movie theater, and was home to the Knights of Columbus. By the 1990s the building had fallen into disrepair. Over the early 2000s, the building was lovingly restored and reopened as the Town Hall Theater in 2008. The Preservation Trust of Vermont holds a preservation easement on the building. Funds will be used for masonry repairs resulting from the poor-quality bricks used during the original construction.
