An interdisciplinary team of VHB staff executed the Middlebury Bridge & Rail Project, which involved designing a new tunnel under Middlebury’s downtown, creating new downtown parks, preparing an Environmental Impact Statement, and completing historic resource mitigation projects such as the Middlebury Village Historic District National Register nomination and interpretive signage in the new parks.

VHB’s Vermont Cultural Resources Group is an interdisciplinary team of two archaeologists and three architectural historians with the unique capacity to undertake a wide array of cultural resources projects including regulatory reviews (Section 106, Act 250, Section 248, Section 4(f), and 22 VSA 14), National Register nominations, historic resource documentation and determinations of eligibility, surveys, historic tax credit applications, preservation planning, archaeological resource assessments and Phase I investigations, and public history and interpretative projects. Clients include municipalities, state and federal government agencies, academic institutions, architects, developers, non-profit organizations, and utility companies. The team frequently collaborates with their 120+ VHB Vermont colleagues across the firm's three Vermont offices, including seasoned professionals in landscape architecture, civil engineering, renewable energy development, transportation engineering, planning, GIS, water resource engineering, and environmental science.
