Blue Building, Rutland

The 1865 building was originally home to White’s Marble Works, which included the shop on the first floor and residential rooms on the second floor, which are still evidenced by the remaining wallpaper. The building became a marble mill and granite works, iron works, and eventually a wholesale plumbing and heating supply company. Vermont Farmers Food Center now owns the property and is working to redevelop it as a shared kitchen and storage space for emerging and growing value-added food producers. Funds will be used for exterior repairs, structural work, and roof replacement, which is the first phase of a larger rehabilitation project.

1772 Grant Funds Awarded: $8,740
