Village Meet-Up, Thursday June 5, 2025, Reading, Vermont

Join us at the Village Meet-Up in Reading on Thursday, June 5th, 9 am – 4 pm.

This event is a day-long gathering focused on the future of Vermont’s small towns and villages. Hosted by the Preservation Trust of Vermont, the Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Vermont Council on Rural Development, the event brings together local leaders and community partners from across the state.

This year’s panel sessions include:

Village-Scale Housing & Infrastructure
What does smart growth look like in Vermont’s villages? We’ll look at how towns are approaching housing within the limits of local zoning, water/wastewater systems, and aging infrastructure.

Economic Development for Rural Communities
How do small towns support businesses and bring underused spaces back to life? This session highlights efforts to revitalize general stores, arts venues, and trail systems.

Reading Revitalization
Rural communities are being asked to do more with less. We’ll explore how planning, partnerships, and creative thinking are supporting revitalization work happening in Vermont’s smallest villages and learn about revitalization efforts in Reading.

Registration is $25, which includes a light breakfast, lunch, and all sessions. The day will wrap up with a dessert and music reception at the Hall Art Foundation nearby.

Please note: Sessions will take place at multiple locations in downtown Reading, with walking required between sites. We recommend comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Please let us know if you require mobility accommodations.

Please contact Denise D’Abramo, denise@ptvermont.org with questions.

We’re sorry, the event is sold out! Please email denise@ptvermont.org if you’d like to be put on a waiting list.
