Denise is a Field Service Representative for the Preservation Trust of Vermont. Her path to preservation began with an interest in historic textiles and material culture.

She has been happily rooted in Vermont since 2003, arriving as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Burlington City Arts after a Fulbright Fellowship in India. Denise spent nearly a decade operating Vermont Wool, producing naturally dyed yarns from local farms while raising two daughters with her husband, Jason, and caring for all manner of farm animals in Plainfield. For the past eight years, she has operated a small B&B from her 18th-century Georgian residence, which has had many lives, including as a tourist house over a century ago.

Denise holds a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently pursuing a longtime goal of earning a master’s degree in historic preservation at the University of Vermont. She volunteers with the Hartland Historical Society and Historic Windsor Inc. and enjoys as much time as possible outdoors during Vermont’s summer months.
